Paychecks
Stubs or vouchers that show current and year-to date earnings and deductions of employees are called paychecks. Paycheck is written for each worker and the amount paid by check to the worker is appeared in the net paid column of the payroll resister.
Paychecks sent in inadvertence:
Mr. K was dismissed from the company in the month of April. But he continued to receive his pay checks for four weekly pay days sent inadvertently to him. Mr. K refused to return the four extra checks received by him.
In this context, the options left to the company are:
The company should write a gentle letter to Mr. K expressing and admitting their mistake and formally request him to return the 4 extra checks for which he is not a bona fide claimant. The company can inform him about his non-availability during the 4 work weeks due to his termination for which they have the evidence. Mr. K should also be informed that there was no valid agreement of employment for the period for which paychecks have been sent to him.
In spite of the gentle letter and reminders thereafter, if Mr. K did not return the checks, the company can take disciplinary measures and sue Mr. K in the small claims court and obtain a judgment against him. If Mr. K is employed somewhere, his salary can be attached by the enforcement of the said judgment.
