The system of science and law can be distinguished by understanding the nature of both the subjects. Science needs data and relevant information to prove the certainty of a process. On the other side, the law just needs to win the situation in the favor of the client.
Science acquires knowledge of a certain subject, check the credibility of the subject by applying the appropriate scientific method and then interpreting the results in a probable or certain nature. Law professionals have different objectives than science.
They introspect whether the data provided is relevant of the fact and is in or against the favor of the client. If the data is against the favor of the client then, the law professional by applying their knowledge of law, should prevent the data to be inadmissible in the court of law.
Law professionals involve lawyers, consultants, and juries. The lawyers check the admissibility and credibility of the data produced in front of the court of law as probable evidence. If the data can be used as evidence against the client then, the lawyer should prove it inadmissible by using the law.
Even non-scientific information can be used as a corroborative evidence in front of the court of law. Law is outcome-based practice while science is highly dependent on the data. Even if it proves the certainty of certain event using the scientific method, a law can render it useless in imparting justice. Law is used just to win the verdict in the favor of the client.
Both science and law can be used to impart justice, but not directly. The condition of a person at the time of crime can be explained using science but it cannot relate the condition with the events that have taken place.
