Heart has specialized cells, some (pacemaker cells) of which generate electrical impulse and some cells are involved in transmission function. The impulse generated is of certain intensity and transmission of the impulse occurs in particular direction. Intensity and direction of an impulse can vary.
Impulse can be defined by strength and direction and hence it can be represented as vector. A diagrammatic way to represent strength and direction is called vector. Thus, the vector representation of electrical impulse is possible.
The answers given in options (A) and (B) are correct. Therefore, options (D) stating ‘both (A) and (B) are incorrect’ is not the correct answer.
The explanation given in option (A) stating vector as a diagrammatic way to show strength; and option (B) stating vector as a diagrammatic way to show direction, is correct. Therefore, option (C) stating ‘Both (A) and (B) are correct’ is also correct.
Hence, the correct answer is option.
